One of the major downsides of being in school is that I don't have to time to read "fun" books. This is a list of what I wish I were reading instead of textbooks!
It's hard for me to remember all the great book recommendations I hear! I use Goodreads to keep track of my to-read list, as well as reading reviews of books and seeing what my friends are reading. Want to be my friend? Click on this link! I would love to hear what you are reading!
I have home comforts. I'd never read it cover to cover, but it's a great reference guide (and was a fab wedding present!).
ReplyDeleteSince it's October, you can find me reading Dracula and Frankenstein. Other books on my to-read list include The Know-It-All, A Picture of Dorian Gray, Three Cups of Tea and Angle of Repose.
I've recently read Ice Bound (or as Mike calls it, "Ice Queen", the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and The Scarlet Pimpernel. All pretty good reads, but I would say out of those, the Scarlet Pimpernel was by far the best.
Unfortunately, Lost Symbol amounts to pretty much a re-hash of "DaVinci Code" but doesn't have the crazy theological ramifications of it or the political intrigue of "Angels and Demons." It was an entertaining read, but really only worth it if you're familiar with DC.
ReplyDeleteA solid C+ from me.
Peter Pan is one of my all time favorite books! Too bad you have to read boring textbooks...babysteps to graduation :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, no, you won't be touching anything like those frivolous pieces of kitsch while you're enrolled in an English course! lol. I'm just kidding. I actually haven't read Peter Pan. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteAnd to Catherine: I LOVE the Scarlet Pimpernel and Dracula. Excellent choices!
I am currently tackling Les Miserables by Victor Hugo... the unabridged version! Forget nursing texts!! You will be there soon, too, girl!!
