The bane of human existence: the DMV

I have been trying unsuccessfully) for the past week to change my name. I got married! Wahoo! Great news! Or so I thought. No one else cares that I'm a "newlywed"- that a mere few months ago I was "the Bride". When you are "the Bride" you get some respect! People want to help you and make sure you're happy and throw you parties and buy you presents. But now, as a plebeian again, I am just thrown in with the masses (which by coincidence, all happen to be in line at the same Driver's License Office that I am). I thought it would be romantic to take on my husband's name- a show of my committment. But instead it has been the biggest pain- social security card, driver's license, bank, employer, credit cards, gym, school, church, email, doctor... pretty much anyone I've ever talked to needs to be informed (via official documentation) that I am the person formerly know as (Prince and I have that in common).

Adventures in wedding land

Deja vu. Tonight I went back to the bridal shop where I purchased my wedding gown a mere six months ago. I was there as a consultant for my sister-in-law, Kate, the soon to be Mrs. Jeff. It was an entirely different experience to be on the advisor side of the tulle and hoop skirt. First of all, it required much less nudity, and second, was a lot more fun! Kate has a cute body and chic style, so it was like playing with a Barbie doll (one that can dress itself...and talk...and isn't plastic...and, well you get the idea.) A big shout out to Mary's Bridal in Holladay, Utah for the best customer service (especially Cathy... can that girl tie a corset or what?!)

John and Lily

Cutest husband ever, my John, met cutest little Lily today making for the cutest man-meets-baby meeting in history! Almost turned into a diabetic because of the sweetness overload. (Luckily, was already in a hospital.) Also suffered some baby hunger pangs. However, decided to investigate a child time-share before committing to buying the condo. (An arrangement also known as babysitting.)

A Lily is born Posted by Picasa

And so is a baby!

Lily Isabelle, (Lily Belle to her friends), was born today at 1:17 pm, Mountain Standard Time. Weighing in at 8 lbs. and 11 oz., she beat her older brother out by one ounce. She is 21 inches long. My niece already adores me and I suspect I may be her favorite auntie. She is beautiful and perfect and already has figured out how to stick her tiny finger into her tiny nostril. That's my girl. I am so excited that she is finally here! Congrats to parents Steve and Kerry and big brother Sam!

A blogger is born

Far from having my finger on the pulse of all things cool, this is my first foray into blogging. Yet, admittedly (and thankfully) the appeal is not the trendiness of blogging; rather, the versatility afforded to those who "blog". Where else can one be a photojournalist, a gossip columnist, a writer, and a techie simultaneously!? I have ventured into the sphere of blogging not to Be Cool, but because it is so cool.
