George 7 months

Mr. George, you are getting more and more fun every day. You are so pleasant and chill, even if we miss a nap or delay a feeding while we are out and about.

The evenings are hard, I won't sugar coat it, you often need a lot of bouncing/nursing/more bouncing to get to sleep and then you don't stay asleep for long. I remember Charlie doing the same thing at this age- waking every 45 minutes or so in the evening. It is rough. I predict some sleep training in our future. Despite that one thing, you are a dreamy baby. You take nice long naps in the daytime and are content and happy almost all of the time.

You officially sitting up! You can sit for several minutes without toppling over, unless you start reaching for a toy and then it's all over.

You wave hello and goodbye and say, "Hi" when someone walks in the room or starts talking to you. It's so incredibly darling.

You survived a day away from me (with one nursing break around 1 pm). I was a delegate at the county convention and Dad took care of you and Charlie all day and did a great job! He even parked the car downtown and shlepped you both over to the Salt Palace with only a single stroller for you and Charlie on his shoulders. He found me in the crazy convention hall with thousands of people and I nursed you at one of the candidates' booths (who was a friend of mine, thanks Snelgroves!) It was a fun break for me to do some community service, be involved, and reconnect with a lot of my former political connections- thanks for being so good for Daddy.

This baby loves to eat and be naked (who doesn't?)

You love apples. I love those chubby hands.

Hmm, do you think you've outgrown this bouncy seat yet?

Hi, handsome baby

Fake cry but still a cute baby

You decided to like pacifiers all of a sudden! What? Some babies wean from binkies at this age! So far, you don't seem to want them when you are sleeping or crying so it's not that helpful but maybe you'll get more into them.

Your hair is getting long enough to start to curl! Your hair is so thick and handsome.

Starting to read binary code already ;)

You experienced sitting on the grass for the first time and it definitely gave you pause. You were trying to reach a toy in front of you and every time you touched the grass, you stopped and retreated and then thought about it for a minute. You did it over and over again- not ever crying or getting frustrated but seeming very perplexed by that poky grass every time.

This face cracks me up. You are studying that grass so intently!

You are our sweet Georgie pie, Geo, Jorge, baby brother! We love you!

George 6 months

George, here you are, half a year old. How does it go so quickly? You are pure joy- you hardly ever cry. In fact, people comment all the time about how pleasant, happy, chill, and easy going you are.

At your 6 month doctor's appointment, you were 21.06 lbs (94%) and 28.5 inches (97%). I love that you are big and solid. :) We had a follow up ultrasound on your kidneys and everything looks fine! (You had a slight fluid build up in your kidneys that we saw on the ultrasound when I was 20 weeks pregnant and we've been monitoring it to make sure it didn't develop into something more serious. Thankfully, it hasn't.)

You are getting great at practicing your sitting up and you also got to start eating food this month. Just like with Charlie, I'm taking things really slowly- it's just kind of our style. But you have been up for the adventure of new tastes and textures.

McKenzie and Emily were baptized this month and it was fun to gather with our family to celebrate it. Mark and Chelsea made the trip from Boise and it was so fun and funny to see you and Emma together. I'm lucky that Chelsea shared these photos she took, they are a treasure!

We had some gorgeous weather and you and Charlie have been my park buddies. I hardly have needed to put a coat or sweater on you ever because you are usually snuggled up next to me in the Moby wrap.

You are so interested in everything around you. You want to watch Charlie all the time, grab things, taste things, and talk and laugh with people.

You and Charlie both love it when Sam and Lily come over. Lily is obsessed with holding you and loving on you. She's such a good cousin and helper with you and Charlie.

You have the most beautiful, fluffy, thick hair! You never really had a bald newborn stage. You seem to have blond hair still and as it gets longer, I think it may be wavy or curly. Only time will tell.

You have discovered your tongue and make the funniest faces while you are concentrating.

My two "babies", both looking pretty big in those baby seats!

You still sleep in our bed for naps and at night and love it when I'm snuggled up next to you.

We busted out the jumpy chair and you thought it was the grandest thing ever. It's a little tricky to find the right doorjamb for it (unfortunately, it doesn't work on the kitchen doorjamb) but this particular day I hung it from the bedroom door as I worked on organizing the hall cupboards. You loved jumping and being right by me.

We have morning church which is great for Charlie but hard on you. You usually take your longest nap in the morning if we aren't out and about. This day you had been through a long day of church and then finally conked out in Dad's arms during choir practice.

I love this slobbery, chewy, interested guy!

You like to sit up on the couch with me and Charlie so you feel like you're in on the action. You love to look at and especially chew on books.

We went out to dinner for Grandpa Mark's birthday and you tried out the high chair for the first time. It didn't last long, but it was definitely a milestone!

Another milestone- your first swing ride (at Grandpa Mark and Grandma Bev's house). You loved it!

We love you, George!
