Favorite Things Swap

Andrea turned me on to the amazing world of SWAPPING! So fun, so easy! (I pretty much adore everything that Andrea does).

I received a beautiful, lovingly crafted package of goodies from Emily a couple of weeks ago. But being the procrastinator that I am, I didn't feel worthy to post about my great package until I had dutifully mailed off my package to her. (I hope it got there!)

Inside my beautifully decoupaged box were delicious Ghiradelli chocolates, cute mini ribbon spools and this incredible handmade (and REVERSIBLE) apron! I am *loving* how well it coordinates with the red wall in my kitchen!

Baby Evelyn

John and I went to visit Susie, Brent and Evelyn last night. So cute!!! Other than the fact that Brent has a paper due this week, everything is perfect! She's such a good baby! (Those are Brent's hairy knees, not mine.)

Amy's bday

We had a good time for Amy's bday. (The girls also celebrated Andrea's bday with a lunch date at Rumbi's on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of that.) A little dinner at TGI Friday's (fancy, I know), a little cake, a little Zach... good times.

Welcome, Baby Girl!!

After a quick (7 hours total) labor, Susie and Brent welcomed their baby daughter to the world last night at 11:00 pm. I got to visit her today and she is so darling and beautiful! Her mom and dad want to make sure they choose the right name, so as of right now she is still unnamed. She weighs 6 lbs 13 oz and is 18 inches long. She has a little bit of hair and I think she has Susie's nose and Brent's mouth. She has one dimple in her right cheek and one in the left corner of her mouth. She's just perfect!! CONGRATS!!

Kappa reunion

When Susie, Andrea and I were at the temple for Suzanna and Jeris' wedding, we ran into a bunch of our former sorority sisters from Lambda Delt. It was such a fun coincidence! They were there for their friend, Tarina's wedding and we just happened to be there at the same time!

March of the Daves

My job for Dave Buhler's campaign is in full swing. I know election season seems far away to most people but we're going strong through the summer! This morning we marched our "Daves" (cardboard cut-outs) six blocks across downtown Salt Lake. We had to get "him" from our advertiser's office to our campaign HQ and why not try to get a little attention while doing it? It was so fun and really hilarious to see a bunch of Daves everywhere!

What are you doing, Barbie?

I came home one day and someone had been playing with a Queen Amidala (you know, from Star Wars) Barbie doll. She was stripped naked and left in this compromising position. I think it was my nephew, Sam. I don't know which is more disturbing- if it was him or if it wasn't.

I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes. ~e.e. cummings

Susie's ward baby shower

For those of you who don't know this, Susie and I live in the same ward. She and Brent live in Brent's parents' house while they are serving as mission president of the Albania mission. John and I live in the mother-in-law apartment attached to my parents' house. With that explanation out of the way, it's a little easier to understand why I would host a baby shower for Susie and invite 140 women from our ward. That's right. 140. Every woman in the ward. Because that's how they do it in our 'hood. My mom and I purchased paper, embossing tools, and ribbon and proceeded to make 140 embossed pink and white invitations by hand. It was several evenings' worth of work (plus John and my dad helped, too.) Then we delivered them all. Then we cleaned the entire house (including my apartment, which everyone has now had a personal tour of). Luckily, there were sweet women who volunteered to help and took over all the food preparation. It was a lot of work but totally worth it! Susie got a lot of darling stuff and enough money contributed to a group gift to buy a new crib!

Chelsea's bridal shower

Kate, Anne and I hosted a bridal shower for Chelsea for all the Bailey aunts and cousins. (The aunts helped a lot, too!) We had so much fun getting to hear more about Mark and Chelsea's courtship and I think the fam had fun getting to know Chelsea better!

Which Goddess are You?

I saw this on K's blog and thought it was really cool. It's a quiz to see which Greek Goddess you are. Actually, most everyone will be a combination of the seven goddesses, this is how I stacked up.

33.33 % Persephone
25 % Demeter
16.7 % Hera
16.7 % Athena
8.3 % Aphrodite
0 % Artemis
0 % Hestia

Go here to find your inner goddess!

Timpanogas Cave

For Memorial Day and to celebrate Dad T's bday, the whole clan set out to hike up to Timpanogas Cave (we were missing Mark and Chelsea, who were in Seattle for the weekend). We stopped by Grandma Bailey's grave first, then headed up the 1, 000 vertical feet and 1.5 mile hike to the cave entrance. Once we were inside the cave, we sang Happy Birthday to Rick and another birthday boy that happened to be there (except he was turning 5).

Barb, John, Dad, Mom, Anne, and Sam visiting Grandma Bailey. She was resting peacefully.

Just before entering the cave. I'm the only one whose face is red, even though Kate, Jeff, Breea and Dave practically ran up the mountain to make the tour in time!

Inside the cave it was 45 degrees Fahrenheit! It was fun to see the same things I'd seen as a child- of course, everything seemed smaller!
