Easter 2013

These pics are all out of order but oh well!

We're still figuring out which traditions we want to adopt in our own little family, especially around holidays. I don't remember doing Easter egg hunts very often as a child, but I do remember new Easter dresses and getting Easter baskets. John grew up with a money hunt which we still do with his family. Even though all the kids are grown up and there are now grandkids, we just can't seem to give it up! It's so fun. In years past, I have helped the Easter bunny put on an egg hunt with candy and toys at my parents' house for my kids and Sam and Lily, and then we also do an Easter dinner with one or both families and the Thornton money hunt. It was starting to feel like a lot! So we skipped the egg hunt with the Spencers this year and some of the signals got crossed in translation and we had a confused and upset Lily Belle. :(

Our kids had small Easter baskets and the Thornton money hunt tradition and new Easter shirts. It worked pretty well, we'll have to see what new traditions start to emerge and which ones get left behind. I love the idea of making Easter more religious and focused on the Savior's resurrection, and having a spring celebration or secular Easter on another day.

These big balloons in their baskets were a big hit

Charlie really started to love playing with Play-Doh after getting a bunch for his birthday and Easter

Trying a marshmallow bunny for the first time...

They both loved toting around their Easter baskets afterward- this is Georgie bringing me some of his cars
